Civil Works Design Manager

Job Description

Civil Works Design Manager, site based, permanent salaried role working for a well-respected civil engineering client based in North Wales. Reporting to the Project and Engineering Manager, your employment history will ideally evidence experience within the Tunnelling and Heavy Civils Engineering, sector. As Civil Works Design Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the external designers, internal design support team, BIM (Building Information Modelling) and CAD teams. Ideally educated to either BTEC Level in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or a HNC / HND / Degree in Construction Management or Architecture, your Design Management experience should include 5 years previous/relevant experience.

Responsible for all typical duties to include managing the design processes involved in the North Wales construction project, including and ensuring that drawings are correct and ready on time for the delivery teams, reviewing all designs and providing relevant support and guidance to your design teams when liaising with the key client on all design-related matters. Your career to date will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of a high value (£100 million plus) major civils/construction projects, with highly efficient document and reporting skills used during professional presentation at key stakeholder level.

As Civil Works Design Manager, you will manage the contractual review process ensuring accuracy and compliance with all requirements, managing all communication with the Client design team during the contract period. Responsible for chairing high level meetings, assessing progress and obtaining updates for all parties is key. Naturally you will have exceptional levels of communication skills, a solid understanding of MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) for all communication needs and a professional and positive approach.
