Fabricator/Welder

Job Description

Thrive Group are recruiting for an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join the team to assist in the manufacture of this year's Illuminations. Based at Lightworks you will be welding aluminium and mild steel using Mig and Tig processes.

You will also be involved with general fabrication within the department using fixed machinery and hand tools.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To undertake fabrication of structural elements of the Illuminations, using both Tig and Mig welding techniques.
To support Illuminations Engineer in the designing and manufacturing of the mechanical movements and structural elements.
To work with all aspects of the illuminations display manufacture, maintenance, erection, operation, installation and dismantling.
To produce basic CAD drawings.

Qualifications:
City & Guilds Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent qualification, e.g. welding.

Knowledge:

Considerable knowledge of fabrication and engineering.
Considerable knowledge of Mig and Tig welding.
Considerable knowledge of lathes and milling machines.
Knowledge of robotic manufacturing equipment.

Skills:
Skills in the use of hand tools and powered hand tools.
Skills in fabrication using steel and aluminium.
Skills in welding with both mig and tig sets.
Ability to use mobile elevated platforms( Cherry Pickers).
Ability to drive and operate a balanced forklift truck.

Initiative and Independence:

Ability to work independently with the minimum of supervision.
Problem solving with the guidance of the Illuminations Engineer (Structural/Mechanical).

Shifts: 37hrs per week. Monday - Friday.
Area: Blackpool
Contract Type: Temporary
