Thrive Oldham are currently recruiting for a temporary HGV Refuse Driver to work for the local Authority in Rochdale.
This is a temporary position and is to start immediately.
Rate of pay: £11.50 per hour
After 12 weeks: £11.65 per hour
Shifts available: Tuesday - Friday, 7am start
Location: Rochdale

Purpose of the job:
To provide comprehensive waste collection and recycling service. This will include the collection of recyclable and non-recyclable household waste, from properties within the Borough.
Job Role:
To drive a Refuse Collection/Recycling Vehicle in accordance with current traffic regulations.
To be responsible for daily vehicle safety/maintenance checks and ensure vehicle is fit for use in accordance with legal requirements.
Must report any vehicle defects which come to notice either via checks or whilst driving the vehicle in accordance with service procedures.
Responsible for the proper use of radio communication equipment on vehicle in line with Council's communication policy.
To be responsible for keeping daily records of working/driving times, breaks and journey times to comply with road transport regulations.
Must report all accidents or incidents involving injury to any person, damage to the vehicle, to another vehicle or to property.
Ensure vehicles are kept in a clean condition and that the security of the vehicle is maintained at all times.
Ensure waste is unloaded efficiently and safely at designated disposal sites.
To be responsible for the correct loading ad unloading of materials including compliance with weight limits.
Liaise with chargehand on issues such as vehicle access problems to ensure service delivery.
Requirements:
UK Driving licence
Digital tachograph card
CPC card
Knowledge of the current transport regulations
Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism
Polite and friendly manner at all times
Ability to drive in all weather conditions
Lead by example
Experience:
At least 6 months of HGV driving
Previous Waste/Refuse experience preferred, but not essential - Training will be provided on the job.
