Thrive Oldham are recruiting on behalf of our well established client in the Torfaen area a Product Engineer
The Technical Product Team requires the addition of a Product Engineer to ensure the department produces methods to a high standard and the engineering change process is adhered to and improved, closing off change requests in a timely manner and ensuring the number of open change requests does not increase. This is to mainly support the existing product portfolio and is an internally focussed role. The successful candidate will be for a technically competent person who has a sound engineering background for the application of specifications to methods of manufacture, supporting the Product Technicians with review and implementation of methods and process changes. This person shall also support audits around method activities and control, including the order acceptance process. Currently method generation activities are performed by current technician/administrative resource which are of non-engineering backgrounds and the Technical Product Manager must assess and scrutinise all method generation activities individually. currently capable and does not have the, focussing on internal management of change and method amendments and creations as directed. The successful candidate shall have a proven record of implementing projects into manufacture with a sound engineering background |
Principle Accountabilities: |
·Ensuring accurate routing and costing of the Closed & Open Die Forged products portfolio. |
·Responsible for method of manufacture generation and amendments in alignment with internal and customer requirements. |
·Supporting estimating and method of manufacture process continuous improvements projects. |
·Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Quality, Engineering, Technical and Operations to continuously assess product portfolio, identifying product optimisation and potential cost saving opportunities. |
·Reviewing and designing internal procedures and recommending actions around method control. |
·Continuously promote product communication and understanding. |
·Work with Commercial, Finance, Quality, Engineering, Technical and Operations in order to support the RCCA, FAIR and concession processes, ensuring quality and delivery targets are achieved. |
·Work with Management team and operators to establish a "right first time" quality approach, and customer focus. |
·Compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act, and/ or the Company Health and Safety policies and procedures. Reading and understanding the appropriate Risk Assessments and Work Instructions. Ensuring that all Personal Protective Equipment is worn. |
·Undertake other tasks, within capabilities, in any department across the business, as requested by Technical Management. |
Essential Experience |
· Previous Manufacturing experience working within a business that produces precision engineered products, in a highly regulated industry, preferably from the Aerospace or Oil & Gas sectors. |
·Demonstrate working in cross functional project roles/teams both internally and in a customer facing role. |
·Experience in controlling management of change across multiple systems in alignment with internal and customer requirements |
· NPDI, SOP and document generation/control. |
·Undergraduate in an Engineering Discipline OR |
Desirable Experience / Qualifications |
·Lean Manufacturing / 5S / Continuous Improvement experience. |
· Experience of using analytical & statistical quality tools, eg. RCCA, 8-D, SPC, etc. |
·Project management experience. |

·Computer literate including the use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel and Power point. |

Salary Competitive
Monday to Thursday 8.00 - 4.30pm and Friday 8am - 1pm
